This town is big enough for 3 brand identities.
What?! ☞
Nestled at 10,200 feet of elevation, this mountain town has seemingly been forgotten by time. With each new business comes the chance to bring the wild west legacy to life in a new light.
How?! ☞
Word of mouth travels fast in a small town, and I’ve had the opportunity to create brand identity systems for the town’s coffee shop, restaurant + bar, and custom hat + soft crafts store.
When you renovate a 200 year old building, you uncover a lot of history.
What’s now The Famous was once The Famous Shoe Company. So we scoured the newspapers and revived the letterpress advertisements to create a heritage brand.
And so was the shoe icon. We even uncovered the original letterpress carving of this shoe!
The wordmark was reborn from this ad in the Herald Democrat from April 14, 1888.
In a one-stoplight-town, it’s hard to establish any branding outside of “The Coffee Shop.”
And while it’s still an uphill battle to get people to call our coffee shop by name, it’s at least now “the one with the red pot.”
A knitting supply store AND hat decorating bar? Count me IN!
My two favorite things converged into one. It was such a joy creating a brand identity that merges soft crafts with the wild west. The resulting look blends soft-crafts line work with western edge and grit.
